Ah just wedding bells.  Well as some of you already know i asked my lovely girlfriend of 6 years :icongodsdumbblonde: to marry me at the start of this month.  Took me awhile to announce it i know, lol shame on me.  We just got our blog set up, still working on the look of it, but we'd love if you'd stop by from time to time and see how we're doing.  Our date is set for November 6 2010 so lots of time ahead of us but we're planning lots of fun artsy stuff, gonna try and animate a few shorts to put in our slideshow so be sure to tune in for updates on that.  For now stop by, check out the engagement pictures (i was lucky enough to get my soon to be sister in law, a much sought after photographer, to capture the moment) and thanks so much for the support, comments and prayers :D

Okay so just finished up a couple months of pretty steady enjoyable work and now somehow i've become sapped of all inspiration.  I totally wasted all of last week and don't want to let myself get away with that again.  So i thought it'd be fun to get some ideas from my friends here.
If you have any ideas for me go ahead and leave me a comment here.  I'd like to keep them simple one word ideas: animals, items, emmotions, no "super awesome robot cow that shoots lasers from its udders fighting an alien squid."  As cool as that may sound i want to keep this simple for now lol.  And no fanart ideas either please.  I'll take those ideas and try to do one every business day, and i'm going to try and stick to the order in which they're posted just so i don't do all the fun ones first.  Anyway, i appreciate any words thrown my way and as always i appreciate so much all the comments and favs and just sticking around, you guys and gals rock, God Bless :D

My buddy :iconmousehog: and I have combined forces yet again to bring you SpellBounce mousehog.com/games/spellbounce…

We gave our best in the Batman: Brave and the Bold competition but ultimately came up short, alas our skills were not enough for the Dark Knight.  But it was a lot of fun and showed us just what we are capable of and somehow we still really enjoy working together lol.  So we threw together Spellbounce for another competition and well i really fell in love with it, realised just how crappy a speller i am but it's a good time waster when i need one.  After some interesting developments on that game we threw together yet another word game Guess It  mousehog.com/games/guess-it/&n… funny enough i really enjoy this one too.  Not as smooth playing as SpellBounce and much more frusterating at times but fun all the same.  Being the genius thinker/programmer he is, Tony came up with some great games, i had the awesome opportunity to make them pretty and just thought i'd share, more to come, enjoy :D

Or the son of death at least,rebel-penguin.deviantart.com/a… i've finally given up on trying to make him into a toy myself so i've handed it over into the very capable hands of www.patchtogether.com/?

For those that haven't heard how PatchTogether works, if the design gets enough votes they'll opt to take preorders and if enough people show interest a cute new toy everyone can enjoy will be born.  So please go vote www.patchtogether.com/?Designs…

In other news, my programmer friend :iconmousehog: and i have entered the WB/Mochads, create the next Batman Brave and the Bold game contest.  Had two months to throw together a game along with 9 other teams and now we're waiting to see how we place.  We're both very proud of the game, if nothing more it was a great learning experience and i'll be sure to let you all know when it's up and playable.  As always thanks to all of you who comment and keep me smiling, you are all a real blessing and i should have some new work flowing soon.  God bless.

It deffinitely has been too long since my last update, since my last post for that matter, what have i become lol.  Well i have been working, gone through quite a few fun projects in the last few months one of which i can show you now...

Great guy needed some artwork for his first flash game and a few weeks later Air Traffic Mania was born.  A humble yet entertaining first game i'd say and we've just set out for a second and i think it's going to be amazing.  I'm sure i can promise it will have much more action, humor and look pretty too :D  So stay tuned for that and hopefully some more work from me!  Thanks as always for all the comments, checking up on me and such, you guys are awesome.  God bless :D

Ufo Poster For Sale!

Thu Mar 13, 2008, 2:09 PM
COMMISSIONS!!!

Wow it's been a really long time since i've done one of these, but i'm a firm believer in that "pictures speak louder than words" quote so I hope the art has made up for lack of journal updates.  Anyway, life has been good, doing my best to make myself into a successful freelance artist, been slow going so far but it's going.  As a small next step on that road i've finally printed up my piece "The little ufo that could" and it turned out so much better than expected!

It's approximately 3 feet tall by 6 inches wide, printed on white vinyl and while I haven't found the perfect spot for it yet in my room it looks awesome just about anywhere, the picture really doesn't do it any sort of justice.  I remember a few who commented a while back that they'd like a poster if I ever made one and now that I have I wonder if there are still some takers out there?

I'll have them available for $20 even, payment preferably through paypal, send me a note if you're interested and we'll work out shipping and stuff from there.  I appreciate any and all business, and if you'd like to suggest maybe another image you'd like to see printed feel free to inform me of that too.

As always a huge thank you to all those who watch me, fav my work and comment, you cannot imagine how much i appreciate it all and every time i think i could not be more encouraged and uplifted you all blast me with even positive comments and critiques.  THANK YOU ALL and God Bless.

Hey everyone, hope you're all having a wonderful new year so far and enjoyed a great holiday season.  Sorry for the lack of work lately, i've had a great holiday season but sadly my inspiration has been a little low, trying to work my way out of that so expect some new stuff soon :D
Straight on to some business, my lovely and talented girlfriend :icongodsdumbblonde: has entered a piece in a Harry Potter Christmas contest and it is now up to the voters to decide a winner.  Anyone can vote and if you have a few extra minutes we'd both appreciate you stopping by to check out the work, i'm not going to tell you who to vote for but Shanna's piece is number 11 lol, and i think it'd give her a real boost of artistic confidence to win at something she really enjoys doing.  Check out the work and vote here:

Anyway, still working on the requested turtorial, so sorry it's taking me so long to get that done, it's proving to be a lot more difficult than expected and i want it to be as helpful as possible.  Still open for commissions if anyone's interested, send me a note if so.  And as always many thanks to everyone who watches me, comments, favs my work, i appreciate it all so very much you guys don't even know.  Thanks so much and take care :D

I was recently asked by :iconbluebeauty875: if i would like to take part in a Q&A podcast, naturally i jumped at the opportunity and now i'm giving you the opportunity to ask whatever questions you have about me.  I'll answer them through this interview and post a link when the interview is complete and up for your listening pleasure.  So please, ask away, anything you'd like, serious questions or not, this should be fun :D

Many Thanks and an Update

Thu Oct 26, 2006, 3:25 PM
COMMISSIONS!!!

Wow, never thought i'd have to do this but after posting my last penguin piece my inbox exploded and i really let it get away from me so i need to send out a big thank you to everyone who's favorited my work and watched me over the last week.  I appreciate it all so much and i'll do my best to get back to everyone and thank them personally but it might take me awhile lol.  I had no idea that my simple pirate penguin would get such a huge response but it did and wow, thanks so much :D.
In other news, sorry for my lack of posting lately, having a hard time getting myself together, feel like there's so much going on and i'm just not handling it very well i guess.  But i'm hoping after Halloween i'll be able to calm down and get back to drawing again.  My lovely girlfriend :icongodsdumbblonde: and i are celebrating our 3 year anniversary friday, pretty excited about that and with her permission i might just post some of her gift here for your veiwing pleasure.  Going to the fairwell Audio Adrenaline concert Saturday which should be a blast, sad to see them retire though.  Sunday my parents are leaving myself and my 4 siblings to go on a week long cruise, good for them, not so much for me lol.  And Halloween my girlfriend and i are dressing up as Ron and Kim from Kim Possible and going to a small party, should be fun :D.
   Moving right along i have a two designs currently up for voting over at Threadless.com, i'd appreciate your votes if you have the time.  www.threadless.com/submission/…;

On my list of things to do:

-Illustrator Tutorial:  Quite a few have asked if i would put together a tutorial of my artistic process using Illustrator so i'm working on that, if anyone has any particulars on what they'd like to see me explain or a piece they want to see made step by step please let me know.

-Trades with :iconreed682: (farscape) and :iconbenpixen: (origional character fosters style) unfortunatly don't really have time to take on anymore trades than these at the moment.

-Cute Cryptids:  I love cryptozoology (the study of creatures whose existence is unproved, like bigfoot and the loch ness monster) so been wanting to illustrate something with these creatures for awhile, gonna try to get a cute cryptids series going.

-Cartoon Pitch:  Been compiling ideas over the last few months into a cartoon series i'd like to possibly pitch to Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon.  Just saw Butch Hartman (Fairly Odd Parents) and Steven Silver (Kim Possible) speak at my old college and they've inspired me to go through with this so i might be posting some concepts for your review soon.  If anyone has any info on how to go about pitching or a good story on the topic i'd love to hear it by the way :D

And in closing, i'm still open for commissions, it's been a lot of fun working on the projects i have so far and would love to keep it going.  And again thanks so much for all the favs, comments, new watchers, appreciate you all so much!  God bless and have a great weekend.

Open for commissions

Mon Sep 4, 2006, 10:34 AM
COMMISSIONS!!!

I am open for commissions!!!  Well i'm thinking i'll start with 5 for now and see how it goes but i am open and would love to draw you whatever your heart desires, excluding anything: pornographic, overly gorey or racially demeaning, (if you feel any of the prior subjects are truely what your heart desires i do have some numbers you can call for help.)  Anyway, work has been kinda slow and my personal inspiration has been running a little low as of late so i thought this would be a perfect time to advertise myself for hire.  I'm gonna start things out at:

Lineart (1 character)- $20+   Clean lineart ready for your coloring pleasure (also makes good printable coloring pages to entertain your kids or siblings for hours on end.)  Add $5 for simple background
Basic colors and shading (1 character)- $30+   Your character, creature, whatever brought to life in crisp, clean colors.  Add $10 for background.
If you're looking for some adorable artwork ask about my "Paco's Pals" deal.  $25 will get you your very own full color, cute and cuddly cartoon orphan.
And anything more we can discuss, i like to think i'm a pretty reasonable guy :D

I'm up for fanart, logos, t-shirt designs etc as well, so if you would like a Rebel Penguin created piece and are willing to support me with a little of your hard earned dollars i would love to hear from you.  Send me a note with your idea, i'll discuss how everything will go with you and get right on it.  Of course i always love to hear from you whether you're buying or not, drop me a note just to say hi, you love penguins, whatever, makes my day to see people still have time to say hi :D  As always thanks to all you who comment on my work, watch me, encourage and critque me, i appreciate it all greatly, you guys/gals ROCK!  And even though work and commissions may get busy (i hope they get busy lol) i still plan to do my best to keep you all entertained with origional work from me.  Take care and God Bless.

Well i've safely returned home from a long but enjoyable vacation.  Got to see a lot of family i haven't seen in years due to work and school, got to add a few states to the list of places i've visited, it was overall a very nice trip.  Unfortunatley i seem to have let my page run dry here, been a while since i've updated and i feel really bad about that.  My job was terminated due to the project being rushed to a close.  Timing worked well so i could join my family on vacation but now that i'm home it's time to scamble for new jobs.  I've been lucky enough to find a few freelance projects so i'm hoping they'll last for awhile and i might be starting work on some projects that have the potential to turn into major productions, movie quality stuff so excited about that.
In the mean time, been trying to finish the few requests i've had so if you're waiting on me i should have your requests posted within the next two weeks or so, depending on work.  When those are complete i'm thinking about opening myself up for commissions, maybe just taking a few to start with and see how those go.  I know just about everyone seems to be opening up for commissions at the moment but like everyone else, money is getting low.  I think it will be good practice for me too, get my creative juices flowing so if you decide to help me out and request something don't hesitate to ask for something totally crazy, Challenge me :D.
Anyway, as with every new journal, i just want to thank all of you that comment on my work and watch me.  I had no idea that i'd meet so many awesome people here and i hope one day i can thank you all with more than just these written thank yous.  Hope you're all having a great summer and i'll see what i can do about getting some new work up :D

Well the always inspirational Mr. CraigInATin has tagged me, i haven't done one of these before so thought i'd give it a shot.

Rules: The 1st player of this "game" starts the topic "6 Weird Habits/Things About Yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a journal about their 6 Weird Habits/Things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" on their devpage comments and tell them to read yours...

6 Weird Habits/Things About Yourself:

1.  I once performed a c-section on a garter snake (mother had died in birth and i was helping the babies out, i'm not sick and like to cut open little animals or anything.)
2.  I'm so good at hide and seek that friends and family have refused to continue playing the game with me.
3.  I want to wrestle an alligator (or crocodile) before i die (i don't plan on dying durring the act of wrestling just want to do it some day)
4.  Might be normal other places but i once had 4 baby squirrels as pets, funnest pets i've had so far, and i've had a lot!
5.  Um... i was once rescued by dolphins after being shipwrecked off the coast of Catalina Island...

Okay so that last one wasn't true, i'm a terrible liar, there's my number 5 thing about myself :D

Well the first Tavern Mega Tournament is over and wow, it was quite the experiance.  Met a lot of new people/amazing artists, whipped up some art that i'm pretty proud of, learned a lot from the comments i've recieved from you all... and in the end out of the 5 finalists i came in.... drum roll please.... okay just a little drum roll.... Third!!!!  No, it's not first or second, and rightfully so, the winners deserved the place they got, thier final entries were oh so awesome.  It was just great to make it as far as i did and be able to see my work up next to theirs, very pleased with the outcome of the tourny.
Anyway, with that aside i'm ready and pretty pumped to move on to new projects, but first hopefully finish the few i've taven on over the last year.  Work has been crazy, time consuming and draining, and i apologise to those i've been working on things for, i want to give you guys the best so please bear with me.  I'd also like to hear from you all on what you'd like to see more of from me?  What you think i could be doing better?  Any recurring flaws you may have noticed?  Any critques, and ofcourse comments, you have would be great.  Kinda feeling i'm at a stand still at the moment artistically and it'd be great to hear ideas of how to move forward and improve.
I'm looking to make a career change sometime soon, been looking at Cartoon Network forever and i'm tired of not acting on that dream, so whatever input i can get from you all will be so very appreciated.  As in almost every entry, a big thanks to everyone who supports me here, all the comments, critiques, favs, hellos and how ya doins are so very encouraging and i can't say thank you enough.  You guys, and gals, all rock and i'm thankful to have met you all.  Take care and have a most excellent week.

Well www.cafepress.com/rebelpenguin is now up and running, still have quite a few things to add and move around but it's up and i am just so excited i had to let you all know.  If you go check it out and notice something is not there that you'd like to see, or any other changes you think would be benificial please let me know.  I know i missed a few things people had mentioned so just remind me :D.  The black shirts are unfortunatly all there is available in black, no girly black stuff, bummer i know but maybe if i complain enough they'll update their inventory.  And i've tried to keep stuff as cheap as possible while still making a little something for myself, don't think i'm making more than 2 bucks off everything sold so your donation is greatly appreciated.  And just to let you know i'm not getting money to go spend on booze and women or somthing as crazy as that the majority of what i make off this site will go towards adopting a pair of sugar gliders (flying squirrels).  Love the cute little guys and think i could make a nice home for them.
What else needs to be addressed.... oh the samus shirts, not sure how legal i'm being selling those shirts so they'll only be up for at least a week, so if you love the huntress or just like the design hope you'll quickly buy yourself a very limited edition shirt.  So please check it out and let me know what you think, any changes i should make, products in different colors etc.  You guys are great and as always the feedback is great to get.  Thanks and have a most excellent week :D

Hey guys, again I come before you without any sweet new artwork to present and i am ashamed.  The winter break was a nice time to spend with family and friends and take a break from work and such but unfortunately a bit of a dry spell in regaurds to artwork.  This could be due to two things:  I was honestly physically exhausted causing the art part of my brain to shrivel and stop functioning for a time or i was lead astray by the promise my brothers sweet new video games would be so much fun i would have no time for work of any sort.  Whatever the case work had resumed and i have high hopes for the new year.  This brings me to a few questions for you all.  Does anyone know anything about CafePress.com?  Does anyone have or know someone with a Cafepress site?  I've been reading up on the world of product development and seriously considering purchasing a site and seeing if it may bring in a little income.  Any info you may have on the site (is it worth it etc?) would be great and if i got one would anyone consider buying anything, suggestions on what pieces you'd like to see on products would be great too?  Just a side note for the lil grim fans i believe i have found a company that can produce a plushie version of my grim, would there be any buyers if i went through with this.  Ofcourse i'd try to keep prices as low as possible and if i'm able further discounts would be granted to the great friends i have here (if you've commented or just stopped by to say hi i consider you a friend :D).  Thanks for your time guys, the artwork should start flowing again soon. Hope you all had an awesome Christmas and New Year, stop by and tell me about it if you have time.  Take care and have a most excellent week.

Hey Penguin Fans and Friends alike, seem to start a lot of the journal entries with apologies for lack of work and yeah well i'll skip that this time and move right into Thank you all for sticking around and being patient with me, appreciate the comments and critiques so much and a BIG Thank You just for everything.  I have been quite busy lately with work, still enjoying it but it has been consuming a lot of my time.  Just celebrated my 2 year annivercery with the girl of my dreams, had a great weeked with her and couldn't ask for more in that department.  And i've been taking on a few freelance posistions which are extremely exciting so expect to see some work from those jobs up soon.  Life is going great, i just wish i had more time and energy to spend pumping out artwork to shower you all with.  I am beginning to get an itch though so one of these nights i might have to stay up and work on a few of the unfinished projects i have laying around.  So if all goes as i would like it to i should have something nice, hopfully multiple nice things, finished and posted by the end of the week.  Thanks again everyone, hope all is awesome and have a most excellent week :D.

It's been awhile since i've done anything, I know, and i apologise for these dry spells but i have a good reason this time, really i do.  I GOT A JOB!  Yes all i needed was some time by myself (I have forfeited a vacation to florida with my family for time to find a job and get going on this whole adulthood thing,)  and here i am almost three weeks into it and i'm in the middle of my second week of work.  A lady from school graduated a term after me and has now started her own animation house so i am now working with a team of friends from school on her cartoon series.  Currently i'm doing mostly 3D stuff, modeling props and scenes, but sounds like i'll be working with some freehand animation soon as well which will be cool.  And i just finished my first commission which was awesome, never expected someone would request art from me so it was a great experience and i hope Mr HomieBear likes his piece. Anyway with a new job comes a new bedtime lol, so i better hit the sheets but thanks to you all for all your support and comments, always appreciated and i will do my best to keep coming out with fun and origional art dispite my 8-5 job.  Thanks again and have a great week.

I'm sorry for the lack of consistent work lately everyone, I've been so busy trying to find a steady source of income haven't had much time to be creative.  I wanted to hear a bit about what you all do in regaurds to work though if you wouldn't mind sharing.  What job you have or the funnest/ most interesting one you've ever had or what you future dream job is.  I'm willing to answer any questions you may have but thought it'd be cool to get to know everyone else a bit better too.  So if you have time stop by and let me know what you do, or ask a question or just say hi, always appreciate a hello.  Hope you all have an awesome week and i'll try to get some fun work done and posted soon :D
